Turnbull is a team player - Nelson

OPPOSITION Leader Brendan Nelson says he is unperturbed that Malcolm Turnbull has refused to rule out a leadership challenge.

When asked today if he was concerned about the treasury spokesmen's latest refusal to rule out a challenge, Dr Nelson replied: "No, of course not." Dr Nelson said the Coalition was working hard together. "We are a team, we're working very hard to make sure that the government is kept up to the plate," he said."We've already commenced the process of developing policies for the alternative government of Australia and every one of us is determined to make sure that the government delivers on the expectations that it set." Dr Nelson said Mr Turnbull was doing a terrific job keeping Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan awake at night. "It's obvious even in the relatively early days of the government Mr Swan is struggling being the treasurer of Australia," he said. .

TheStar.com | World | Americans want 'real deal' for next president

It is this same lack of authenticity that continues to weigh down ex-Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney and his flag-of-convenience conservative conversions and former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani with his personal peccadilloes and myriad business links that don't quite pass the smell test.

It has become the great equalizer. It explains how Huckabee can spend $325,000 in Iowa, yet surpass Romney, who spent $7 million.

Among Democrats, Barack Obama, the most gifted orator on the campaign trail, appears to be passing the authenticity test over the impersonal, machinelike campaign of Hillary Clinton and the whiff of hypocrisy in the John Edwards campaign.

The authenticity test is steeped in American political lore.

Carter used it to win the presidency for the Democrats in 1976, George W.

Editorial: DNR's short-term funding fix.

Budget shortfalls loomed and threatened the state's precious outdoor bounty.

They'd have to lay off conservation officers and cut game management programs, they clucked. Reduce research, slash fish-stocking programs. Whack the walleye, trim the trout.

Nothing, they said, could pull the state from the financial abyss.

Nothing, of course, but a big tax hike on state hunters and anglers. The DNR could fend off its funding woes by demanding outdoors-inclined folk swallow double-digit price increases on the licenses required to shoot or hook fish and game here. The plan could generate millions of dollars and float the DNR's boat for the next couple of years.

Otherwise, so long, steelhead. Buh-bye bears.

No way around it.

Philips' brings travel expenses down to earth

Dutch electronics giant Royal Philips Electronics has streamlined its travel and entertainment programme through strategic alliances with SkyTeam and American Express.

In 2005, the manufacturer chose to rationalise its supplier base, buying services on a global basis. As part of that strategy, it signed a deal to take travel services through SkyTeam, a global airline alliance of nine members - Aeromexico, Air France, Alitalia, Continental Airlines, CSA Czech Airlines, Delta Air Lines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Korean Air and Northwest Airlines - covering travel in over 30 countries. To keep track of expenses, it opted for the travel and entertainment programme offered by American Express.

You what? Bust through tech jargon with silicon.com's Cheat Sheets.

The Amex service benchmarks each of Philips' negotiations with SkyTeam against a list of other transactions by companies of a similar size and business, made up from its own customer list.

FABIO THE RIGHT ONE

Fabio must be the right person to push them in the right direction.

There are good English coaches, but the reality is you cannot find at this moment an English coach with great experience of high-level, international football.

The best teams in England that play European football have foreign coaches. I dont think its an easy situation for them, but from outside I can understand the FA are taking care of their situation. They are probably waiting for the revolution to get an English manager. This is the normal tendency.

I have so many great memories of England that even if I go, like I hope to, to another football country, I will always be in love with England.

Mischievous, perhaps, but Mourinho did not state he will not be back in the Premier League next season and there is nothing in his Chelsea severance agreement that precludes it.

Bill to ban teaching about homosexuality in schools killed

The bill was scuttled at the February meeting on a voice vote after critics said the bill was unnecessary, infringed on free speech rights and put the Legislature improperly in the business of dictating curriculum to schools.

Campfield, R-Knoxville, had protested the voice vote authorized by the subcommittee chairman, Rep. Joe Towns, D-Memphis. House rules say that when a sponsor requests a roll call vote, that request must be honored.

Towns declared at the time that Campfield had not made a proper request. He subsequently decided, after reviewing a videotape of the meeting, that Campfield had, indeed, made a proper request. Towns then agreed to bring the bill back for a second vote on Tuesday.

The roll call vote was 6-4 in favor of House Education Committee Chairman Les Winningham's motion to send the bill to the Department of Education, in effect killing it.
